-I want to talk about a little pandemic. In the EuroLeague Women and Turkey league season had ended. You were in very good condition in both leagues and maybe you will have a serious chance of championship in the EuroLeague. What do you think?
“To be honest, I am not very sure. I am quite relaxed after four months now and all I am thinking is the next season and our new squad. I am only focusing on the future now. It was very difficult for me, for the club and for our players when we stopped playing. We knew that we could have won all the trophies we were competing for. We were in a very good shape. We were ready to go out and compete in the Final Four with a healthy mental state. I can’t say much about the Turkish League because the regular season was still not finished but it was very tough for us to acknowledge EuroLeague’s decision. But I am all over those thoughts now. I am only focusing on the next season.”
-I want to continue with the pandemic and its effects, coach. Fenerbahçe’s budget shrank slightly due to the effect of the epidemic. What does it mean for a coach to plan a new staff when the budget is falling? It’s probably a more difficult process than people think.
“It’s always nice to have a big budget. Fenerbahce had one of the biggest budgets a few seasons ago but the situation is different now and I am adjusting to that. I think we have to be honest and think realistic. We discussed the club’s current economic situation with the board members and made a plan for ourselves with the idea of doing the best for the team. We have a new route now. We know that we won’t be able to afford a superstar anymore. But we tried to bring quality players to the team as well as keeping our good players. I believe we have a strong team and ready to compete. We have new thoughts, a new route, and a brand new plan.”
