This is your second season in UNICS Kazan. You played semi final in EuroCup last year. How does it feel?
“We had a solid season, but came up a little short in the end. It’s extremely difficult to win a championship but I felt we had the talent to do so. But it is good to be back and continue the journey.”
After your Galatasaray Istanbul career, it was first time you were so close to championship. What do you think about your second EuroCup championship as a EuroCup MVP?
“I think it’s way too early to think about a championship. We must continue to improve, have good health, and grow collectively as a unit. We aren’t a championship team yet, but it’s also only October and we have time possibly to grow and become one. I hope we progress and peak at the right time.”
Galatasaray fans still remember and love you. Would you like to play a EuroCup final against Galatasaray in this season?
“I love Galatasaray and it’s fans. That was my most memorable year in my career. I always wish nothing but the best for that club. Those fans deserve it. Cim bom bom!”
You have just one EuroLeague season. It was with Anadolu Efes. So, is it your goal that playing another EuroLeague season with UNICS or another team?
“I just love basketball and to play the game. Everyday I play is a blessing and I don’t take it for granted. Wherever I play I’m just happy to have the opportunity to do what I love for a living.”
Lastly, can you share your opinion about your brother CJ McCollum’s team, Portland Trail Blazers, for 2019/20 NBA season?
“I think they have a chance to do something special. They added some quality players, the returning group gained great experience last year in conference finals. Also this year the west is more open and balanced. They are definitely a contender.”
