Interview: Barış Cevahir
During the preseason media day at Darüşşafaka, Michael Eric, one of the new players, spoke with TrendBasket.
You’re one of the new faces at Daçka. How was the preparation period so far?
So far so good. We’ve done a lot of good things early and we have a lot of room to get better. We’ve played so many games in the preseason and we only lost once. This means we’re in the right direction. So I am excited about my opportunity here, working for Coach Blatt and playing with these young guys.
You will be playing in 7DAYS EuroCup this season. What do you think about the goals you have as a team?
As a team, the goal is to win as many games as we can. If we can do that, we’ll make a lot of noise, we’ll do a lot of good things. Goals may be to win the EuroCup or go as far as we can in Turkish League. But all these starts from one game at a time.
What is your career plan here?
I can say it’s to start off a good way each game. For my career, if I continue playing in Turkey, I think this would be a great start. I’m excited about the opportunity here.
What are your thoughts regarding the opponents in Turkish League?
[The league] is very competitive, as you can see and it’s a great opportunity to play against these top teams. Because these teams are not going to be easy to win against and they’re gonna come out and play good basketball. It’s going to be very difficult.
Last question is about the coach. How do you feel about working under David Blatt?
It feels great. He’s a good guy. He knows his stuff and he’s very smart.
